The Carroll Center for the Blind offers many giving options to make donating as flexible and easy as possible.

Give through a Donor Advised Fund

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) allows you to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund over time. The Carroll Center for the Blind accepts gifts through donor advised funds. Please send your gift to the Carroll Center for the Blind, attention: the Development Office, through your DAF. When you transfer a grant please ask for your name and address to be included. We want to thank you and keep you updated on the impact we’re making because of your support.

Give by Stock or Wire

Donating appreciated securities, including stocks or bonds, is an easy and tax-effective way for you to make a gift to the Carroll Center for the Blind. The benefits of gifts of stocks and bonds is you avoid paying capital gains tax on the sale of appreciated stock while receiving a charitable income tax deduction. Please contact us at 617-969-6200 x246 or development@carroll.org to obtain our Stock and Wire Transfer Instructions or to notify us of your gift transfer.

Gift from your IRA

Donors who are 70½ or older can make a gift (called a Qualified Charitable Distribution) from their IRA that counts toward their required minimum distribution (RMD) and allows them to avoid paying tax on the distribution. Simply contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to us and your IRA funds will be directly transferred to our organization. Please request that your name be included with the transfer information so we are able to thank you for your gift.

Matching Gifts

Many companies will provide a cash match for employee donations of money or volunteer time. Please check with your employer to learn more about the policy.

Memorials and Tributes

Honoring a loved one is a wonderful way to give back. When someone you love has a birthday or passes on, you can designate gifts to be made in their honor or memory. Donors will be sent a thank you letter and you will be notified of the gifts. If you plan on honoring someone, please notify the Development Office with the name of the person being honored or memorialized and the contact information for who you would like to be notified of the gifts. Foundation Grants

A large percentage of our funding comes from grants through private, family, and corporate foundations. This support is critical for our programming, and we fully appreciate any opportunity to apply. If you want to nominate us for a grant through your employer or foundation, please reach out to us at 617-969-6200 x246 or development@carroll.org.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Sponsoring an event or program is a great way for corporate donors to get involved and support the Carroll Center. We have sponsorship opportunities available for the Walk for Independence, Braille Challenge, White Cane Challenge, Technology Fair, and Screen Reader User Tester Training program.
