Salary: $70,000 to $74,000

The Carroll Center for the Blind is dedicated to empowering blind and visually impaired individuals of all ages. Through our comprehensive range of services—residential and day rehabilitation, assistive technology programs, low vision services, and more—we help thousands of children, adults, and seniors each year gain the skills needed to lead independent, fulfilling lives. Our Newton, MA campus serves as the hub for our vital programs, and we also offer essential educational and community services in local schools, workplaces, homes and other community-based settings.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Business Operations Administrator who will lead with insight, innovate with intention, and execute with precision. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our mission—making sure our services reach students smoothly and sustainably, while leading business growth, process innovation, and operational excellence. RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive Operational Excellence

  • Own the Apricot database—ensure our student data is pristine and powerful.
  • Monitor and refine systems, constantly improving how we work.
  • Deliver outstanding service to our school district partners and ensure every student’s services are accounted for and delivered on time.

Manage Finances & Compliance

  • Oversee billing, payroll, reimbursements, and contracts.
  • Partner with Finance to track revenue, and ensure budget management and financial accuracy.
  • Conduct audits and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations—especially in the specialized world of special education.

Build & Support a High-Performing Team

  • Train staff on business processes and policies.
  • Make sure our team has the tools, information, and caseloads they need to thrive.
  • Ensure timely, accurate reporting and a data-driven approach to service delivery.

Lead Business Growth & Expansion

  • Spot new opportunities and craft strategies to expand our services.
  • Lead the integration of students, services, and staff from partner organizations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless transitions and continuity of services.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in business operations, finance, or strategic planning, ideally in education or service-based environments.
  • A track record of driving growth and leading business development.
  • Tech-savvy: confident using Google Suite, Excel, Word, and managing databases.
  • Obsessed with detail, driven by data, and skilled at problem-solving.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven setting and handle sensitive information with integrity.
  • A proactive communicator with a positive, team-focused attitude.
