ONSHORE VOLUNTEERS
Responsibilities
Sailing experience is NOT required!
As an onshore volunteer, you’re the go-to person for everything from dock navigation to keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. Whether you’re assisting with parking, watching guide dogs on land, or helping a sailor find their way, you’re an essential part of the SailBlind team!

COMMITMENT
Our sailors truly count on your friendly faces to help them get ready for their time on the water! To ensure we have a full team to support every participant, we kindly request a minimum commitment of 3 sessions as you plan your season with us.

REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- SailBlind Registration Form
- CORI background check
- Review and sign the SailBlind Volunteer Manual

TRAINING
- Virtual orientation – Wednesday, April 29, 2026
- In-Person orientation at Community Boating – Saturday, May 2, 2026
In the above required trainings, you will learn:
- Community Boating’s safety procedures & protocols
- Blindness etiquette
- How to guide someone who is visually impaired

- Coordinate with a Sighted Guide to go sailing after a SailBlind Saturday session! Please note: if you plan to go sailing with a Sighted Guide, you will need to complete a CBI Guest Waiver Form using the CBI kiosk iPad station.
