Featuring Dr. Michelle Liang, Vitreoretinal Surgeon at the New England Eye Center and Associate Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, this first session provides an overview of Geographic Atrophy and its relationship to dry AMD. Dr. Liang will discuss early symptoms, the importance of timely diagnosis, how to access appropriate care, and what to expect in the early stages after diagnosis.

About the Speaker
Dr. Michelle C. Liang is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon at the New England Eye Center and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Tufts University School of Medicine. She completed her medical degree at the University at Buffalo, ophthalmology training at the New England Eye Center, and fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at New England Eye Center / Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. Dr. Liang treats a wide range of medical and surgical retinal conditions, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachment, and was the first in New England to surgically implant the Argus II retinal prosthesis. She is widely published, co-editor of Anti-VEGF Use in Ophthalmology, and actively involved in teaching and clinical research focused on retinal imaging and emerging therapies.
