Michele Aldrich
Michele Aldrich’s greatest joy was providing a helping hand to younger professional women. Michele was blind in her left eye since birth and received Low Vision Services from the Carroll Center for the Blind to help her use her remaining vision. Despite her vision challenges, Michele lived an active, accomplished, and fulfilling life. Whether it was in her career working at the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Otis Elevator, and the Smithsonian, or through her many speaking engagements, she always supported and advocated for the careers of women who she thought were being marginalized. Michele wanted to help clients at the Carroll Center for the Blind long after she was gone, so she updated her will accordingly so that a Charitable Gift Annuity was established following her passing. This ensured loved ones were taken care of while also providing the Carroll Center with support. Michele passed away in 2016 but will continue to live on through all the people she helped, and in particular, the visually impaired women working to achieve their independence through gainful employment.
