The Carroll Center for the Blind invites you to a free, three-part virtual wellness webinar series, Living Well with Vision Loss: Sleep, Health & Balance. This series explores how sleep, physical health, and emotional well-being shape daily life for people with vision loss. Each session offers practical insights, expert perspectives, and tools you can use right away. The series is designed for individuals who are blind or visually impaired, their family members, and professionals.

Living with vision loss can bring unique emotional challenges, from feelings of isolation to navigating major life transitions. In this session, Rebecca Alexander—an acclaimed psychotherapist, author, and advocate who is deafblind due to Usher Syndrome—will share strategies for coping, building resilience, and maintaining a sense of purpose. Attendees will learn how to strengthen their emotional well-being through practical skill-building and by cultivating meaningful connections with peers, family, and professionals.

About The Speaker

Rebecca Ann Alexander (born February 4, 1979) is an American psychotherapist, award-winning author, disability rights advocate, extreme athlete, and inspirational speaker. Living with Usher syndrome type III—a rare genetic condition that has gradually robbed her of both sight and hearing—she has embraced life with resilience and purpose. Rebecca holds two master’s degrees from Columbia University in Clinical Social Work and Public Health and maintains a thriving psychotherapy practice in New York City. She is best known for her critically acclaimed memoir Not Fade Away: A Memoir of Senses Lost and Found, which recounts her journey navigating progressive sensory loss and pursuing extraordinary physical challenges, including summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro and long-distance endurance events. Rebecca’s work as a speaker and advocate focuses on empowerment, accessibility, inclusivity, and mental health.
