The Carroll Center for the Blind invites you to a free, three-part virtual wellness webinar series, Living Well with Vision Loss: Sleep, Health & Balance. This series explores how sleep, physical health, and emotional well-being shape daily life for people with vision loss. Each session offers practical insights, expert perspectives, and tools you can use right away. The series is designed for individuals who are blind or visually impaired, their family members, and professionals.

Health and wellness are cornerstones of independence, but creating sustainable habits can be challenging. In this session, Dr. Michael Marciello—a physician and advocate who is legally blind—will share practical strategies for maintaining balance across three essential areas: sleep, exercise, and nutrition. Drawing on both professional expertise and lived experience, Dr. Marciello will provide actionable guidance on how to strengthen your body, boost your energy, and support long-term health, no matter your starting point.

About The Speaker

Dr. Marciello, MD, is a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and owns Maragal Medical, PC, in Leominster, MA. Born and raised in Somerville, MA, he was a three-sport athlete at Boston College High School and majored in Behavioral and Neurosciences at Wesleyan University. He pursued medical school at Thomas Jefferson University, conducting research on motor impairments in spinal cord injuries, and completed his residency at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

In 2018, he founded a private practice integrating physical medicine, chiropractic, physical therapy, regenerative medicine, and lifestyle approaches to treat chronic conditions. Diagnosed with Stargardt’s disease in 2012, Dr. Marciello became legally blind in 2022 but continues managing his practice. He advocates for awareness of visual impairments, coaches the Boston Renegades beep baseball team, and educates medical students on the functional limits of low vision.
