We understand the challenges a blind person faces when trying to find a job. Our Job Placement Team knows the guidance and support a person who is visually impaired needs. Helping both those entering the job market for the first time and those who are reentering the job market after vision loss, we have a variety of programs that do more than just help with a resume and interview. On-the-job internships are available in a wide variety of industries and businessed and provide the opportunity to develop skills and confidence while job searching.
We look at the whole individual and the skills they need to succeed. This may include:
- Technology Skills
- Travel
- Independent Living Skills
- Career Exploration
- Managing Job Fairs
- Disclosing Your Disability and Adaptations
- Job Carving
To address these areas, we offer the following programs:
- Job Placement which provides individual support
- Technology Training
- Vocational Transition Program for Young Adults with work experience
- Real World of Work Summer Work Experience for High School Students
- Vision Use in Employment for those trying to remain in a job
- Internships to develop work skills
In addition we can provide sensitivity seminars; evaluate worksites for accessibility and help locate potential employees.
