Meta Glasses FAQ

Meta Glasses Training & Support

Q1: Do you offer private one-on-one training or support sessions for Meta glasses?

Yes, we offer one-on-one or two-on-one training. You can use one of our pairs or purchase your own. We can help you set them up and train you on how to use them, particularly on how they can benefit someone who is blind or visually impaired. You can submit a request for Meta Glasses training here or call (617) 969-6200 x 216.

New Features & Updates

Q2: What are the latest accessibility features available on Meta glasses, and what new features are expected in future generations (such as Gen 3)?

The latest features include Conversation Focus Mode and more detailed AI descriptions. The glasses also seem to hallucinate less and are more compatible for blind and visually impaired users.

Reading Text & Screen Accessibility

Q3: How well do Meta glasses work for reading text, including fine print, food packaging directions, and information displayed on computer screens or other digital displays?

The glasses work great for reading text. The key challenge is that phrasing needs to be correct — otherwise, the glasses will simply summarize what is being read, when verbatim reading is often more helpful.

Q4: Are there specific commands or techniques that work best when reading text from a screen versus printed materials?

The glasses will read text from screens and printed materials the same way.

Meta AI & App Accessibility

Q5: Are there any known accessibility issues with the Meta AI app, such as VoiceOver not reading complete responses or inaccessible buttons in apps like WhatsApp? Are there any workarounds?

WhatsApp is accessible with Meta glasses, but it takes a few repetitions to nail all of the steps. It is a multi-step process that can be confusing at first. We are happy to provide training to help users become comfortable with the workflow.

Prescription Lenses & Hardware

Q6: Can Meta glasses be fitted with prescription lenses?

Yes. Meta glasses work with prescription lenses.

Q7: Can the glasses be worn without being powered on to conserve battery life?

Yes. You can toggle the off switch on the left arm to the off position (away from the lenses). This is a great way to conserve battery life.

Audio & Controls

Q8: How do I stop audio playback on the glasses, and are there any shortcuts or voice commands that can help manage audio more easily?

You can stop audio playback with a single tap on the touchpad located on the right arm. You can also use the voice command: “Hey Meta, stop playback.”

Battery & Accessories

Q9: Can you provide information about battery packs and charging accessories? Are they compatible across different generations of Meta glasses, including Gen 1?

Accessories are typically compatible across models. The Prism RX adds up to 19 hours of battery life and is a standout option among available third-party accessories.

Repairs & Warranty

Q10: If my glasses are damaged, such as a broken arm or earpiece, what repair or replacement options are available? Can individual components be repaired?

The lenses and battery case are replaceable. However, most other components need to be fully replaced, as the electronics embedded in the glasses are difficult to repair individually.
