10th Annual 5K & Walk for Independence

Event Description

The Carroll Center for the Blind’s 5K & Walk for Independence is back for an in-person event on Saturday, May 14. Join us to celebrate 10 years of the Walk for Independence, an extraordinary community event that supports our mission of empowering those who are blind or visually impaired to achieve independence and to lead a fulfilling life.

This year there are even more ways to participate. Runners can register for a 5K run with chip timing and Walkers can walk a one-mile route. All of the routes will take place around the beautiful Mount Ida Campus of UMass Amherst in Newton. Stay for a family and guide dog-friendly event and enjoy food, music, accessible games, giveaways, and much more. All the activities offer unique opportunities for both sighted and visually impaired individuals to participate.

The 5K & Walk for Independence is not only a fundraising event, but also a celebration of the entire community coming together to improve the lives of people with vision loss. Come make a difference, one step at a time!
